By 5:30 a.m., the line ahead of me was over a hundred people. Under the friendly, chatty atmosphere there was intensity, quiet, determination, and a sense of hope that was amazing and heartening.

I chose my vote by default: I couldn't vote for one candidate - it was just impossible as a woman; as someone who respects others' right to be different with dignity and full rights of citizenship; as a moderate; as an educator...as a thinking person. If nothing else, the possibility of having an unqualified, right wing religious fanatic as vice president (and quite possibly president) was too terrifying to consider.

In this state, it wouldn't have mattered if I voted as the outcome was a certainty. I considered not voting or voting down-ticket. In the end, I just couldn't bring myself to do that. The honor, privilege, and duty of voting could not be denied. With Tagore's definition of duty going through my mind, I went to the polls.

And I am so glad I did. Although I wish I had a candidate I really wanted to vote for available, being with a group of people blazing with the possibility of finally arriving at the shore after standing uninvited in the water for all those years was almost overwhelming. The hope and affirmation were palpable, almost blistering.

The little elderly lady, bundled in a too-big coat and tucked in a folding chair, waiting patiently to vote behind close to three hundred people smiled at each of us as we left, responding to good wishes with a repeated prayer: "Please, Lord: Now!"

Now the voting is over and the choice is made. I hope her vision holds true for more than this day.

OK That's It!

I wondered what it would take to get me to vote for Obama. So I had the scan. Then I had a phone call asking me to schedule a follow-up with him "No emergency; he just likes to go over the results personally with patients." Ahem. Even I am not that gullible, so I started getting religion (taking a couple of calcium supplements a day, eating more yogurt) and waited the month for the appointment (no rush to schedule a non-emergency visit - stealthily comforting).

We sat and chatted for a moment - after all, we've been seeing each other for thirty years. He delivered my daughter. I said, "So...? I'm guessing if all were well, we would not be having this little tete-a-tete." He grinned/grimaced and announced I have osteoporosis of the spine and osteopenia in my hips. So glad I had HRT and was not careful about calcium long ago. How smart to have somehow fallen off the walking bandwagon for quite a while. Well done.

So now my sudden burst of a couple of calcium supplements a day has morphed into Fosamax, three supplements a day, a search for a decent multivitamin to take every day, hard-wiring the yogurt-eating into my diet, and a long time to wait til the next bone scan to see if the loss can be stopped.

The good part is having discovered Adoras calcium supplements. They add 30 kcal each, so I had been leery about them. Wrong. They are disks of chocolate (dark or milk available) that really taste like...chocolate! I look forward to each supplement. They're less calories than an average candy. I haven't had any other chocolate in over 4 weeks now - I'm getting a guilt-free fix three times a day! Years ago, her husband, a close of friend of my husband's, collapsed and died shortly thereafter...but not so shortly that she could be spared the decision to remove him from life support when it was determined that the background count on the monitors was higher than his brain functions. She had a psychological break - in some ways, perhaps all of us did. The group evaporated, as did the relationships.

We asked each other how we were doing...fine, fine. She asked after husband; I stood there awkwardly. We smiled and moved on.

In some ways we've probably grown, but we seem to be diminished. After lugging and <s>dumping</s> carefully spreading a dozen huge sacks of garden soil; planting a lilac; planting a burning bush; and planting an entire large sack of tulip bulbs, I coudln't let this continue. (Actually I'd have thought about it less if it weren't for all the holes laboriously dug for the tulip bulbs.)

Thanks to Ocean State Job Lot's sale on 32 quart sacks of potting soil, I acquired a supply of sand bags and banked the driveway. The idiot appliance repair contractor finally showed up - and only 2 and a half hours late (or 6 weeks late, depending on your perspective). Apparently we're supposed to be grateful he made an appearance at all.

After many false starts, which involved disassembling the entire water dispenser; looking intently (for no apparent reason and at length) at the brand new water hose; asking us for an extension cord (really. he did.); wondering aloud if an ungrounded plug could stop a water supply; and calling for backup from the bright folk who sent him here, he finally decided to take a look at the electrical connections to, you know, see if they might be creating the electrical problem. And lo! The spirit of the Lord came upon him - and he noticed that the wires were loose. So he tightened them and the connection was restored. Water issued forth from the dry dispenser and (after dumping the requisite number of contaminated batches) it was good. Of course, it could have been good on the day it was delivered in February but I am reminded that late could be better than never....it's a rather near thing.

I am in the wrong field. I get paid rather poorly to be a professional, with all that implies. I could be a seriously underaccomplished dolt, work shorter hours, have essentially no accountability, and get paid well. So much for the craptacular manufacturer's one year warranty on parts and labor; the warrantee is not thrilled.

Next available date: March 30 at which time we will have owned the fridge for almost a month and a half without full use of its glorious capabilities.

Surprisingly enough, they wanted to be paid for the whole fridge right away.

This is starting to feel like being in one of the old soaps. Apparently there's a solenoid that doesn't appear to be working - hence the dearth of nifty fridge-supplied drinking water.

Calling the service number (on the nice refrigerator magnet they supply) does provide an opportunity to listen to the worst background music ever. It also lets you practice your skill in getting them to send a service person at a time when you are not normally at work. No, we do not want to take a personal day for this; we want you to recognize that the world works. Service hours should reflect this. I would love to have a job that would allow me to have my days off not on the weekend. Not having to hit the supermarket when Attila and the boys are out shopping too: priceless! Remember, Attila meant something like Scourge of God...and for good reason.

So Dr. A, normally a reasonable guy, got to speak to them. The general feeling was that it would probably not help matters if I started shrieking invective. Probably not.

He 'splained it to them. He suggested that since this was a brand-new fridge, we had a plumber standing next to the phone fuming in frustration, and they had a moral obligation to give us something that works for our money, they should send someone after 5 or on a weekend. And lo! they are!

So next weekend we find out whether the next title shall be The Return of the Jedi...or (ominous music) The Revenge of the Sith.

Meanwhile, it can take up to 48 hours for the ice unit to be fully operational so we're hanging onto the ice cube trays a bit longer. (And every time I hear a little clunk in the freezer, I hop up on my trusty step stool to view the latest little miracle issuing forth from the ice maker. Cool.) The replacements are very nice and the credit card bill hasn't come yet, so things seem fine.

This week's Disaster Theme has been the weather. Is this random nastiness? Stochastic weather process? Global warming? Nah. It happens every time my team has bus duty. It has reached the point where some parents groan when they see us on duty. One has asked us to consider taking days off so the weather will improve and she can run errands in relative peace.

So what will next week bring? Blue skies? Happiness? Depends on how you feel about standardized tests. The tests in our state happen to be well-designed and give us good information. However, administering them is a difficult process at best: lots of security measures; a great deal riding on the outcomes. I always have groups of students who have learning difficulties and get more time to complete the tests. The word is out that my room is a nice place to test - partly due, no doubt, to the fact that I provide snacks and a quiet, nonjudgemental atmosphere. I really like the kids who come to me; I'm glad they feel comfortable in my room.

Between the actual testing dates (2 full weeks) and the make-up days, life as we know it will return right in time for April showers - such a heartwarmingly symmetric cycle.

O frabjous day...

The refrigerator has arrived and it is wondrous to behold!

The drawers are clear, not opaque. Every shelf is adjustable - even the ones on the door. It can hold a 2 liter bottle of soda, a gallon of milk - standing up!

Another improvement over the old one: it's cold.

Now we can't wait for the plumber to come install the water line so we play with those gadgets too.

The guys who came to deliver it and remove the old frig were stellar - these were huge machines to maneuver through tiny doorways. They not only did it - but there were no dings - and they were not irritable; in fact, they were very pleasant and cheerful. A puddle in your kitchen surrounding your refrigerator is not.

This is an older house with a galley kitchen (read crappy little dark tunnel with appliances in it). New appliances are not the same size as their older, more petite counterparts, making finding a new refrigerator less fun. There are simply no spots available for a frig the size of a Sherman tank. (We can't fit a table or a dishwasher either - but the frig is kind of required.) Of course, the price tag tends to cut down on the amusement as well.

So we found a new frig for only twice as much as we had planned to spend. But it has nice shelves, an Energy Star rating, unnecessary devices (ok, so I'm secretly kind of looking forward to having an ice machine and a little water dispenser, even if they aren't on the outside of the machine and crank up the price!), and a glorious 21 cubic feet of space to fill up - quite a step up from a 15.6 cu. ft.

Also, the inside is white, not teal!

Tomorrow morning the Red Carpet Delivery and Installation Team will arrive, my VISA will melt, and hopefully the plumber we called to install a new little water line to make the water dispenser piddle in one's water glass will return our call and schedule a visit.

The whole deal, including the 2 extra years of warranty the sales guy sold us (mostly by not trying to sell us - so endearing!), will still cost less than the two new sets of snow tires we're grinding to nothing during the least snowy winter our state has ever seen.

Hoping the frig purchase is more productive than the snow tire purchase. (In all fairness, the storm we had last week - 7 or 8 inches of sleet and freezing rain - did make the snow tires worth the price! So did the AWD!) Probably cold juice, bacterium-free food, etc. will seem worth the expense. Diving into the garage for a glass of cold water and praying nothing we plan to eat is turning into a viral condo is already making the new frig sound like a real bargain.

Three cheers for Whirlpool!

Cataloguing: It's not just for experts any more

What is it with vendor cataloging lately?

Full processing cataloging options are one-size-fits-all - except one size only fits some. Evidently those are folks who aren't too worried about matching sources like...Library of Congress. Why don't vendors just use the CIP??? In fact, why don't they use their own entries?

Yesterday I had the thrill of replacing the Dewey supplied in the vendor's MARC with the entry LC thought might be fun to use. Just for the heck of it I looked at the entry on the vendor's site from which I'd ordered. It did match LC! They didn't even check their own stuff!

This is particularly apparent when a book is biographical, but not primarily a biography. (The book in question is about a person's sports career leading to and including a trip to the Olympics - clearly centered on sports. LC thought 796.812. The vendor supplied 92.) Lately anything that refers to a person's life gets a 92. Maybe I missed something in the cataloging course; maybe I missed something in working in the cataloguing department at HugeU for years. Sure, there are often several valid ways to catalogue a book. However, the object of the exercise seems to be twofold: find the main emphasis of the book AND (drumroll) figure out the best entry to serve the needs of the patrons looking for the book.

I can understand that when I make quirky decisions based solely on the needs of my admittedly small user population, I need to just make the local authority decision and call it a day. However, when I'm following AACR2 and generally accepted cataloguing protocol, as evidenced by agreement by other libraries (such as the Library of Congress), I think I should see that process reflected in the cataloguing I receive from vendors.

Further, when I talk to the vendor and specifically request specific protocols, I damn well expect to get them! One vendor has really tried to accommodate this - with hilarious results. They have starting cataloging my orders individually and tried to go with the CIP - but when they remove the 92 and replace it with the right Dewey #, they never remember to replace the letters beneath - so I get the Dewey # with the first three letters of the subject's surname. At least they try.

I got a call from one cataloguing department head of a service used by one of the vendors - she actually called me dear as she condescendingly tried to explain why I should follow their standards. She even said they've whipped off a (probably snotty) letter to the Library of Congress to explain why LC's cataloguing department needed to change their protocol! Damn! This service is being phased out by the publisher - they're finding it's cheaper to hire their own people than to use the service because they make a lot of their profit from the processing purchases - and a lot of us threatened to stop buying the package.

So Monday I'll go back to checking the MARC record for every single book I receive and making changes and additions to each record as needed. It's still faster than doing the whole thing myself - but irritating nonetheless. The order I'm working on now is about 400 books - small when you have a cataloguing department; not so small when you ARE the cataloguing department.

Resolutions

*blog more
*eat less
*exercise more
*worry less
*construct a new cv
*eat chocolate anyway!

Happy New Year!

No kidding

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Northeast

Judging by how you talk you are probably from north Jersey, New York City, Connecticut or Rhode Island. Seldom do any of the kids actually dance really. There are packs of girls who dance together, consistent with the history of school dances. There are also the traditional packs of boys who spend the evening running around the gym. There are still wallflowers, although they now sit and take pictures of others on their cell phones and/or talk on said phones. Oddly, there are now also packs of boys who dance together (or twitch in unison).

What the group really lives for are the group dances - the electric slide, the hustle (yes, it's back), the chicken dance, and a newer, extraordinarily popular gem called Cotton-Eyed Joe. After the first two or three notes sound, the crowd erupts in shrieks (literally!) of glee and dashes pell-mell through the crepe paper streamers and sagging Christmas lights to the front of the gym, streaking into lines and "dancing" in the prescribed pattern. Is this really descended from the kind of line dancing engaged in during Mozart's time?

You really haven't lived until you've watched the 8th grade Elvis <strike>impersonator</strike> tribute artist doing the macarena - or maybe you have.

WOOOOHOOOO!!!

Daughter has been organizing my pictures in a file - and I have boldly gone where I've never gone before. Very personable crew - very quick on the jokes. We asked if the 'Mobile is just a car or also has sleeping accommodations. Answer: It's a car, not a Wienerbago! They've moved the "new" (they're old & crappy) computers in - and one of my tables disappeared (principal decided I didn't need it). So now I don't have enough seating for a class unless they're at computer tables - which don't have enough room for them to do anything but work directly on a keyboard: no notes, no books, no binders. My library has become a computer lab. Hmm, you say. How have you acquired this bit of widsom? By dumping the wheelbarrow incorrectly and not letting go when it went over forward, thereby landing in a heap on top of the wheelbarrow and wrenching my good knee (not feeling so good now but not as bad as bad knee was when I wrenched it).

I now realize you're supposed to tip the thing sideways so the stuff falls out and you and the barrow do not fall over.

Better idea: get husband to dump it! It's one of those projects where you have to hit rock bottom before you can start building and see any improvement. I think I may have hit that point - physically and emotionally. And I don't know if I'm going to see the "improvements" in the same light - ever. My room is starting to feel like a lab, not a library. A library can include the components of a lab; it is not, however, a lab. Some things will be really nice in terms of research instruction, particularly when computers are being used. Research, however, is an intellectual process, not a compendium of tools. If I lose that concept, there will be no point in continuing this effort - for me. I'd like to think of myself as partly a technologist, but I'm not, primarily, a technician.

I'm phenomenally lucky to have the best educational network administrator (henceforth known as GeekyGuy - because Stellar, Hip Geeky Guy is too long). Yesterday, when I was really ready to start thinking about a different service profession ("Would you like fries with that?"), he came up with several wonderful suggestions for my room and the stuff in it that will be technologically superior, enhance instruction, and keep the library..you know, a library. I wish more of my colleagues were even close to understanding education the way he does.

Note to anyone inclined to care: it is not a good idea to have the custodians, no matter how wonderful they are, sort library and personal materials, throw things they deem not valuable away, and rearrange the rest for me. Had I wanted this service, I'd have requested it. I didn't. Scrambling around in fury to undo the damage asap is also a lousy idea: you could bend down too fast and wrench your knee - the "good" knee. Harumph.

No miracle

Five days after my friend learned there were no more treatment options for her ovarian cancer and was moved to palliative care in a hospice unit, she passed away. Are they doing this because they want to? Nah. The state government finally got sick of negotiating with them and told them they could comply with this or the state medical benefits' prescription plan would not include Wally World as a provider. So, all that hooey about their considered positions comes down to...money. They do have a price, as huge as they are.

All of this, plus their attempt to go after Target's business, and Costco's business, encourage me to continue to boycott.

BTW, considerable research I've done has not come up with even one story I can confirm on Target's prescription "problem" other than the one we all saw. Target is required to honor dissenting pharmacists positions, but does require them to treat the customer well and make appropriate referrals. They also do seem to have disciplined employees who don't comply. I'm shopping there again.

What a champ

Finally got my butt out the door yesterday and walked a little over a mile. Well, try ordering a whole bloody CASE of them for your school and trying to process them. I ordered (and paid for) shelf-ready. What did that mean? Did it mean they did all the dirty work: took off the crappy, tabless, shrink-wrapping, magically magnetic frickin' plastic? Put on all the stickers? Put on all the various permutations of glossy and non-glossy labels necessary for use? Have them ready to actually go on a shelf? No. It meant they throw most (not even all) of the crap you need to do this in a big honkin' envelope and ship it to you, all crinkled and mushed up in the bottom of the case of DVDs. So what the hell do you get when you don't order shelf-ready? One hestitates to even ask.

Well, I may not ask, but it's what I'm gonna order next time. I can pay $3+ bucks a head for "shelf-ready" processing and do all the work or I can pay about a buck a head for whatever the alternative is and do all the work. Even I can do this math.

And they can't catalog for crap either.

jerks.

Nice how I elevate the literacy level of the blogosphere, eh? A colleague (also a LIBERRian) has a horrendous illness. She's seldom at work (and we work in different buildings) so I haven't seen her - so we email. Somehow sending cards and ecards seems lame. I've offered to help with her LIBERRy (did learn that from some article: don't just say "let me know what I can do" - offer something specific you can actually manage) - if she's able, we'll meet so I can do that next week.

I know that one of her greatest fears, besides worrying about if she'll survive, is that we'll forget her. So how do we reassure her that we are constantly thinking of her?

Her illness is not contagious, but you'd think it was from our response. Why do we not have more contact when something like this happens? Do we just really not know what to say? Are we denying the possibility that one of us could wind up with the same illness - something almost impossible to detect before it's too late? Are we so forcefully reminded of our own mortality that we're moving away as a form of denial?

This woman is one of the strongest people I know. She's been fighting for her life for almost a year now - fighting hard and maintaining a positive attitude...until now. Her latest email sounded weary, plaintive, fearful. Maybe it was because she emailed after a trying, tiring procedure. Maybe it was because it was only to a couple of us and she felt comfortable enough to be honest and not have to maintain the woman of steel persona. Maybe not.

Sad

A couple of weeks ago our eldest cat (16 years old) passed away. He had been cruising around earlier that day, snoozing in his various preferred places, drinking water from his personal plastic cup (he never liked water dishes). That morning I had been petting him - when I started to head downstairs, he patted me with his paw, his usual signal for "more petting please", purring like crazy. So I sat with him longer. When I found him, he was lying in one of his favorite spots, front paws daintily crossed as usual. I only realized something was wrong when he didn't jump up when I came trudging up with a load of laundry. Of course, I also keep wondering if there were signs he wasn't well I missed ( was he drinking more? less? anything?).

I miss this kitty. For years when husband was away consulting 100% of the time and daughter was at college and grad school, he and I were companions. He'd sit with me while I read, reviewed books, compiled ebibliographies for school. He also liked watching the Weather Channel (although his favorite was watching Pillsbury commercials - loved the doughboy).

He was a gentle, sweet kitty. As fond as I am of our multitude of current kitties, none of them has been a special companion yet - some have potential, some haven't. I hope one of them turns out to be like him; none will eclipse him or take his place.

First things first

First thing:

I owe my wonderful Spoil-A-Blogger Pal a huge thank you!!!

This has been a really rough year on a number of levels. WonderfulKid, Heretofore WK, one of my favorite students (ever), has huge part in this event - and is envied by those who feel they should have been selected. He was picked because he's talented, he worked his butt off preparing, and he bloody well deserved it. During rehearsal WK collapsed - shaking, nauseated, white to the lips. Finally figured out (took only a couple of minutes - felt like a lifetime) that he had last eaten at lunch (6 hours earlier), hadn't had a snack, hadn't had anything to drink, and had worked vigorously in hot clothing during rehearsal: blood-sugar dive plus dehydration. So...ran to get him juice. While he had juice realized how low on fluid he must have been and turned to go for a cold water bottle.

I wound up looking straight at the kid who most thought he should have had WK's part. The look on his face has chilled my soul: he had a huge, wolfish grin - really happy. Clearly he thought it was serious - and was delighted at this kid's misery and the possibility (he thought) of getting to replace WK. It made the grin on Jack Nicholson's face in the witches of Eastwick look tame.

I've been teaching for a long time. I cannot remember ever being so infuriated, so appalled, so nauseated. It's more than a day later and I still feel ill. That kid was so unfeeling, so miserable, so arrogant...

WK is fine - went on to rehearsal today, will do the part tomorrow. I'm delighted for him!

I'm not delighted to have seen that other kid - it feels like a piece of me shriveled up or died seeing that evil look. Thank God I only have him for another six weeks before summer cuts in.

Oh, give me a break

Just got back from Nice Little Market - where I managed to not see a grape someone had dropped in the produce section. The woman is extraordinary! Her work is so insightful, fair, caring...I felt unworthy to be in the same room.

The hardest part of going to any lecture, workshop, etc. of great worth is the workshop euphoria: you get all fired up to race back and implement the model you've just learned/discussed/become attached to...and then you realize you can't do it alone - and you're really unlikely (as in snowball's chance) to find acceptance among your colleagues. The euphoria turns into serious sadness, frustration, and a rage that builds, quietly but inexorably, over a long time. I sometimes wonder, in a detached way, what my limit is...and how I'll know I've reached it...and what I'll do.

Relative to that, another incredible thing happened at the workshop: a coordinator from another district is trying to recruit me. I'm still stunned.

Two of my dearest friends and most valued colleagues in years past were also there (they both work for the presenting agency) - something else to make the day really special.

As if all ofthis weren't enough: I was out just in time to have a late lunch with daughter. This would be a treat anyway, no matter how mundane the lunch (the day we sat huddled in our jackets, semi-sitting on the brickwork sill of the Jamaican restaurant's storefront, munching super-spicy patties last fall - it was a blast). TOday we went to the Thai place maybe a mile from our house (we've only gone for take-out once or twice and never eaten there). What's wrong with us??? This place is wonderful! For less than $8 each we had a huge lunch (another day lacking in diet bliss) and it was delicious. Lunch included soup (coconut chicken for her, chicken noodle with tofu and basil for me) - great! Then four egg rolls (more like spring rolls - light, crisp, excellent. We both had shrimp dishes (garlic for her, seriously spicy shrimp with basil for me. Both really great. Overall: Yum-O!!! Have to do this more often - splendid food and time with daughter - doesn't get much better!

Now have spent hours on professional growth project - it's still nowhere but I'm further along (I know - but it's true).

Maybe the "happy dance" urge will make it one more day?

Oh, and did I have a damn business card with me when the woman asked for my contact info? Nah, why carry cards (I bought the blanks - just haven't run them) when you can whip a sheet off your official Crowne Plaza Bas Mitzvah Souvenir Pad?

A nation of [the right kind of] immigrants?

As a young girl in AustriaHungary, my grandmother was stunned when two of her sisters decided to go to America. They begged the rest of the family to come with them or join them soon, before it was too late to escape. They did not. One evening my grandmother, as was her wont, snuck out without finishing her chores, instead hiding among the tall grass near the fields to read. My great-grandmother would not be able to see her; her disappointment would be postponed until later in the evening.

She also could not be seen when the pogrom engulfed the household: she could hear the shots after they dragged out her father, brothers, and other males in the household. She could hear the shrieking as the women and girls were raped. She could hear the women beg to save the lives of the small children. She could hear the rest of the shots. She could listen to the silence before the house was consumed by the flames set by the marauders.

My grandmother walked miles to the next shtetl to find cousins, their village stunned by the atrocity that taken her family: perhaps because her father worked for the aristocracy, or perhaps because they were a well-educated family (including the women and especially my great-grandmother),it had been assumed that they would be safe. The cousins scraped together enough to send my grandmother to her sisters.

When she arrived in New York, my grandmother gained entry, not as part of some treasured huddled mass. No, she understood the people around her and realized she would be sent back if she could not find a way to avoid being one of the "too many Jews that day" seeking freedom. She spoke half a dozen languages: one was the language of a large family near her - and she became their daughter, for a little while.

Was my tiny, learned, witty grandmother an illegal alien? Is that what we call anyone who doesn't fit our racist quotas on a given day? in a given year? in a lifetime or generation or history?

So who are the right kind of immigrants? Folks who already have money? People with the right kind of job arranged in advance? People who are not brown or yellow or red - anything but white? People of the right religion? People who "know their place"?

When did the people who "discovered" this land decide others were not welcome? At least that answer is easy: right away! They came, for the most part, for freedom to practice their version of religion, not to grant others the freedom to do anything else. Good old Peter Stuyvesant tossed out anyone who was Jewish - apparently he had some free time when not harassing Africans, indigenous people, or pretty much anyone who wasn't like him.

Have we changed? Not when we were limiting the number of Asians who could come, even for menial work. Not when we were belittling Italians (my husband's family was cheerfully referred to as "black Italian"). Not when we were tossing thousands of American citizens into concentration camps and robbing them of all their possessions, their self-respect, and their freedom without any evidence they were in any way disloyal. Not when we turned away the St. Louis. Not during the generations of attempting to obliterate the cultures and identities of indigenous nations. Certainly not during the quality time we've spent denying the humanity, let alone rights, opportunities, and freedoms of Africans Americans - along with any other people of color.

Now we've turned out sights on people who happen to be from Mexico. Why? Do we really want the crappy jobs they have come to fill out of desperation? Or do we just need more fuel to fire our hatred?

I'm never going to be as eloquent as Uccellina and I didn't have the sense to quote her like sb.
Better to have blogged and been rather pathetic than never to have blogged at all? Hope so.

A Meme!
